Shortly before 2 a.m. on December 13th, OPP saw a suspicious vehicle travelling on Carriage Road. Police initiated a traffic stop, during which the driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment for further investigation. A 23-year-old of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, and Cannabis Control Act.
The charges include operating a vehicle while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, violating G1 licence conditions by driving unaccompanied and during prohibited hours, operating a motor vehicle as a novice driver with alcohol in their system, and having cannabis readily available in a vehicle.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court next month.
