The fight to save one of the world’s most iconic species has found a powerful ally in Strathroy’s Rotary Club, under the leadership of member Chris Das. Das has been working hard to secure $100,000 to protect endangered rhinos in South Africa, who are poached for their lucrative horns.
Das says he’s been travelling to South Africa for decades now to visit family.
We asked Das why raise so much money for an international project?
The goal has been reached and collection begins now from all the donors before the funds reach the front lines.
Das says he hopes this project peaks some interest locally.
The Rotary Club says this local initiative from Strathroy is proving that community action can have a profound impact on global environmental preservation.
