The Strong Mayors budget was presented to Strathroy-Caradoc council Tuesday evening, a significant shift in municipal governance, allowing the head of council to propose the budget and have final say in what goes into it. And that’s under direction from the province with the rules in place Ontario-wide.
Director of Finance for Bill Dakin tells us how the process is going so far.
Dakin describes the next steps in the budget process.
Councillors still do have some say in the budget process.
Dakin says like every Mayor across the province now, Mayor Colin Grantham ultimately has the power.
Dakin says the Mayor will re-release the budget next week so some of the dates for the process may need a bit of tweaking along the way but council gets a full 30 days to make any amendments they’d like to.
