Fire services and emergency preparedness were a major focus at Adelaide Metcalfe Council’s January meeting, where councillors reviewed several staff reports related to firefighter safety, emergency response activity, and a significant public works capital purchase. Council received a report on a Fire Protection Grant Agreement, where the township successfully secured $19,626 through the Ontario Fire Protection Grant, administered by the Ontario Fire Marshal.
The funding will support cancer prevention initiatives for volunteer firefighters and will be used to fast forward the purchase of second sets of bunker gear and cover required NFPA-compliant inspections, cleaning, and maintenance.
