The Township of Warwick announced this week, that its Warwick and Watford fire departments, will be merging to create a single, integrated service now known as the Township of Warwick Fire & Rescue Department. While the departments will operate under one unified structure, both existing fire stations will remain open to maintain strong emergency coverage throughout the community. Municipal officials say the consolidation will improve coordination, streamline training, and enhance overall service delivery across the township.
The move follows recommendations outlined in a Fire Master Plan presented to council in November 2017, which called for the two departments to combine into one service operating from two stations. Brad Goodhill has been named Director of Emergency Services for the township. A 40-year member of the Warwick Fire Department and its chief for the past decade.
The new organizational structure includes the following leadership appointments:
• Kam Turner, Station Chief – Warwick Station
• Ken Rops, Station Chief – Watford Station
• Jim Hart, Deputy Chief of Training & Operations
“Combining our departments allows us to align training, share resources better, and support our firefighters,” Goodhill said. “Most importantly, it strengthens our ability to provide reliable and effective emergency services to residents across the Township.”
