Residents in Strathroy, Komoka and parts of western Middlesex County are being warned to prepare for possible severe thunderstorms later today.
Environment Canada has issued a yellow severe thunderstorm watch, saying conditions are favourable for storms that could bring strong wind, large hail and heavy rain.
Forecasters say wind gusts could reach up to 90 kilometres per hour, with hail as large as a toonie. There is also a risk of torrential downpours and even a possible tornado.
The storms are expected to develop over Michigan or Lake Huron and move east into the region late this afternoon or this evening.
Officials are reminding people to take shelter right away if threatening weather approaches. Lightning can be dangerous and has caused injuries and deaths in Canada.
Emergency Management Ontario is also urging residents to stay alert, monitor weather updates, and be ready to act quickly if conditions worsen.
People are encouraged to keep an eye on forecasts and report severe weather if it occurs.
