The investigation into the homicide of Dane Nisbet remains active. While efforts continue to locate Kyaw “Chin” DOE, investigators have also been focused on recovering the firearm used in the killing.
In the early morning hours of April 12, 2026, Sarnia Police Service (SPS) homicide investigators obtained and executed a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of Indian Road in Sarnia. At approximately 7:00 a.m., members of the SPS Emergency Response Team, assisted by patrol officers, carried out the warrant. A female suspect was arrested at the residence. She is believed to have been one of two females present with the suspects on the night of the shooting.
Following this operation, investigators, along with the SPS Emergency Response Team, attended a hotel on Venetian Avenue in Point Edward. Acting under urgent circumstances to preserve potential evidence, officers entered a unit and detained the lone male occupant inside.
A subsequent search warrant was obtained and executed for that hotel unit. During the search, investigators recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the homicide. While forensic analysis is still underway, the handgun is suspected to have originated from the United States and is not registered in Canada.
