Strathroy-Caradoc Council has approved the relocation of Customer Service at town hall down the road to the old Senior’s Centre, at 137 Frank Street. With town hall reportedly overcrowded, other departments could follow.
Town staff recommend moving customer service first for various reasons, including improved privacy at 137 Frank, and better parking and accessibility. At times this week in chambers, heated discussion about the plan included concerns from Councillor Brian Derbyshire who wondered if customer service should be the department to move first.
The motion passed with only Derbyshire voting against. He can also be heard saying “idiots” under his breath on council audio.
Several councillors did express concerns regarding renovations that need to be done at 137 Frank and the need for staff and council to be more on the same page when it comes to plans for this facility and others.
