History will come alive near Mount Brydges with a weekend event centred on one of the region’s most notable wartime clashes.
The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority is partnering with the Upper Thames Military Re-enactment Society to stage a recreation of the Battle of Longwoods, offering visitors a glimpse into life during the early 1800s. The original battle, fought during the War of 1812 near present-day Wardsville, saw American troops defeat British and Indigenous forces during an attempted interception.
The family-friendly event will feature live military demonstrations, period music, guided tours, food vendors and activities for children. It runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Longwoods Road Conservation Area.
