Police in Strathroy-Caradoc say a potentially dangerous situation ended safely thanks to the quick actions of officers.
On the evening of April 25th, around 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance call in the Front Street area of Strathroy. When they arrived, they were met by a man holding a knife and making threats toward himself and police.
Officers worked to calm the situation, but as it escalated, they used a conducted energy weapon to gain control. During the incident, one officer had their equipment damaged after being struck with the knife, but no injuries were reported.
A 39-year-old man from Strathroy has been charged with several offenses, including assault with a weapon, uttering threats, assaulting a police officer with a weapon, and resisting arrest. He was held for a bail hearing and later released.
Police are praising the officers involved, saying their professionalism and quick response helped bring the situation to a safe end without harm to anyone involved.
