The Rotary Club of Strathroy is inviting the community to roll up their sleeves and help plant trees at an upcoming event in Victoria Park. Long-time Rotary member Grant Fish says the tree planting day is set for Saturday, May 9th, starting at 9:30 a.m. Volunteers will begin with a short demonstration on how to properly plant and stake the trees before getting to work.
Fish says the Rotary Club has been organizing tree planting events for several years.
He adds that planting trees is a simple but important way to help the environment.
Volunteers of all experience levels are welcome to attend, and those who bring a shovel will be especially helpful as crews work to dig the 16 planting holes. The event is expected to wrap up within about an hour.
Fish notes that the project is a significant investment.
The club is also looking for new members. Anyone interested in joining or learning more can visit the Rotary Club’s website.
