Lambton OPP remain involved in an active investigation following a water-related emergency at the Pinery on Monday. Police tell myFM, emergency crews were called to the park shortly after 3 p.m. after reports that a raft carrying five people was in trouble on Lake Huron. According to police, two people were able to swim safely back to shore, while another two individuals made it back onto the raft. One person is still missing. Search efforts are continuing with support from the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre as officers and emergency personnel coordinate operations in the area.
Police say there is no threat to public safety at this time, though residents and visitors can expect to see an increased emergency response presence near the park while crews remain on scene. Investigators say only limited details are being shared for now out of consideration for those involved and because the investigation remains ongoing. More information will be released as it becomes available.
