Strathroy-Caradoc council awarded the tender Monday night to GHN Infrastructure of Mount Brydges for the big Parkhouse Drive reconstruction project. It came in well under budget, as pointed out by councillor John Brennan.
Parkhouse from Adelaide to Rougham will be upgraded to an 8 metre wide lane, with parking on both sides which has raised concerns, including from councillor Greg Willsie.
Councillor Sandi Hipple also expressed concerns about large farm vehicles navigating the roadway with parking spaces added. Also, councillor Steve Pelkman thinks traffic lights might be a smart addition, with McDonald’s currently under construction, something the County may look at in the future.
The Parkhouse Drive project also includes full water, sewer and storm water services which will be paid for in part by local homeowners. It’s estimated each household could have to pay almost 3-thousand dollars for sewer connection, although an exact figure will be determined once the project is complete.
