Cowboys, cowgirls, and rodeo fans will be heading to Brooke-Alvinston this weekend as the Alvinston Pro Rodeo returns for its seventh year.
The popular event will take place from June 12th to 14th at the Brooke-Alvinston-Inwood Community Centre Complex on Walnut Street. Organizers say the rodeo will feature three days of professional competition, family activities, live entertainment, and community events.
Hosted by the Brooke-Alvinston Agricultural Society in partnership with Rawhide Rodeo Company, the event will welcome more than 200 professional cowboys and cowgirls competing in a variety of events, including bull riding, bronc riding, barrel racing, roping, and steer wrestling.
Gates open at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, with rodeo performances beginning at 7 p.m. each evening. Sunday’s schedule starts with gates opening at noon and the final rodeo performance beginning at 2 p.m. A Cowboy Breakfast hosted by the Alvinston Optimist Club will also take place Sunday morning from 9 a.m. to noon.
Visitors can also enjoy food vendors, merchandise booths, mini chuckwagon races, trick riders, and live music. Barn dances will follow the Friday and Saturday night rodeo performances, giving attendees a chance to keep the fun going after the action in the arena.
Weekend camping is available for those looking to make a full weekend out of the event.
