The funding comes through the Ontario government’s Rural Ontario Development (ROD) program, a $20 million initiative aimed at strengthening rural economies, supporting workers, and helping communities plan for future growth.
Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Steve Pinsonneault says the investments will help create new opportunities for growth and innovation across the riding.
Among the local projects receiving funding is the Township of Warwick, which will receive $43,000 to develop an Economic Development Strategy. The Municipality of Southwest Middlesex is receiving $15,000 for a Wayfinding and Community Signage Strategy, while the Municipality of Lambton Shores will receive more than $31,700 for its Forest Downtown Parkette Revitalization project.
Several local businesses and farms are also receiving support. Van Osch Farms Ltd. will receive $10,000 to expand its market reach, while Porkland Farms Inc. and Vlodale Farms Ltd. are receiving funding to assist with succession planning. Other recipients include Celebration: Event Facility and Museum, Back-to-Nature Organics, Ukrainian Pierogies Inc., Laskey’s Services, and 2840616 Ontario Inc.
Ontario Minister of Rural Affairs Lisa Thompson says the program demonstrates the province’s commitment to supporting small, rural, and northern communities by investing in local priorities and economic development opportunities.
