Warwick Township Council has approved a new by-law restricting heavy truck traffic on designated Township roads where signs have been installed. The move is aimed at protecting neighbourhoods, municipal infrastructure and public safety as major construction projects continue across the township.
Heavy trucks are now prohibited from using signed roads unless they qualify for an exemption, including local deliveries, emergency vehicles, residents travelling to affected properties, contractors working nearby, or vehicles performing Township work.
The Township has also received complaints about motorists speeding and running stop signs while using local roads to avoid construction. In response, Lambton OPP have increased patrols and are actively enforcing traffic laws, including the new truck restrictions. Drivers who violate the rules could face fines.
