A zoning application coming before Strathroy-Caradoc council Tuesday (Aug 4) has many members of the community concerned a data centre could be trying to set up shop in Strathroy.
The proposed zoning bylaw amendment pertains to a property located at 700 Adair Boulevard.
While there is no specific date centre development proposed yet, the applicant is officially requesting that “Data Centre” be added to the list of permitted uses for the employment-designated site.
Data centres can consume huge amounts of electricity and water, which can strain local utilities and increase energy costs for residents.
