Construction has officially started on two new stores at Strathroy Crossing Plaza.
Deputy Mayor Mike McGuire confirmed on his Facebook page this that work has begun on the new Marshalls and FreshCo, which will be built beside Canadian Tire and near Walmart.
A few months ago, Strathroy-Caradoc Council approved minor changes to the property to allow the development to move ahead. At the time, the developer told council that if approval was given, construction would begin in July and the stores would be ready to open by July 2027.
The Strathroy Crossing commercial development was first planned more than 20 years ago, but little construction has taken place on the site until now.
McGuire says the new stores will bring more shopping options to a growing part of the community and help create a more walkable neighbourhood for nearby residents.
