The Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service, Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department and Vital Point Church are joining forces to help families and individuals in the community as the back-to-school season approaches. The organizations are collecting new and gently used clothing through August 31, 2026, ahead of a free community clothing giveaway planned for September 5 at the Strathroy Fire Hall.
Organizers say the changing seasons and rising costs associated with clothing can create additional financial pressure for individuals and families. The clothing drive is intended to help ensure community members have access to clothing they need without adding to that financial burden.
Donations can be dropped off at the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service at 299 Frances Street in Strathroy, the Strathroy-Caradoc Fire Department at 220 East Centre Road in Strathroy, or Vital Point Church at 9890 Ilderton Road.
Organizers are asking that all donated items be clean and in good condition. They are particularly looking for clothing for children, youth and adults, along with jackets, coats and other seasonal wear. Shoes and boots are also needed, as well as new socks and undergarments. The free community clothing giveaway will take place September 5 at the Strathroy Fire Hall, located at 220 East Centre Road.
Community members who are preparing for the return to school, looking for seasonal clothing or simply need a helping hand are welcome to attend. No registration is required, and everyone is welcome.
Each guest will receive a bag that can be filled with clothing items at no cost.
