A 17-year-old from Lambton County was charged following multiple disturbances at businesses in Watford on Sunday.
Members of the Lambton County OPP responded to a disturbance at a business shortly after 6 a.m. on August 16. As a result of the investigation, the youth was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000, specifically shoplifting, and mischief by destroying or damaging property. The youth was released from custody and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia at a later date.
At approximately 11:30 a.m., police responded to another reported disturbance at a Watford business involving the same youth. The youth was again arrested and charged with failure to comply with an undertaking, mischief by destroying or damaging property, theft under $5,000, specifically shoplifting, and committing an indecent act in a public place. The youth was released from custody and scheduled to appear in Sarnia court at a later date.
Police were called to a Watford business for a third time shortly after 7 p.m. after being told the youth involved in the earlier incidents had returned. Officers attended, located the youth and arrested them. The youth was charged with failure to comply with an undertaking and was held for a bail hearing before being released from custody.
The youth’s identity cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
