The Poppy Project is looking for volunteers to help turn thousands of handmade poppies into wreaths that will be displayed throughout the community this November.
This will be the third year for the project, which began in 2024 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Strathroy Cenotaph.
Museum Strathroy-Caradoc Curator Michelle Wright says these are still the original poppies from 2024.
She says the community really came together to create the poppies.
Now, volunteers are needed to help make sure those poppies continue to be used.
Rather than making new poppies, volunteers will help attach the ones already collected to create wreaths.
Volunteer days will be held at the Caradoc Community Centre, located at 565 Lions Park Drive in Mount Brydges. Volunteers can drop in with no registration required on September 28th, October 2nd, October 5th and October 9th from 10 a.m. until noon.
Wright says everything volunteers need will be provided, adding that anyone who can tie a knot can help.
The project is being done in partnership with the Royal Canadian Legion, which has given permission for the use of its trademarked poppy design.
