The Canvas and Culture Night Market is returning to downtown Strathroy for its second year, with organizers planning an even bigger event.
The award-winning market will take place Saturday, September 19th, from 4 to 10 p.m.
Strathroy-Caradoc Booking and Events Coordinator Kait Topham says this year’s event will be bigger and better.
The first Canvas and Culture Night Market won an EDCO Award of Excellence, in the category of Visitor Attraction and Tourism Product Development – Rural.
Administrative Assistant for The Wright Place, Lauren Huston, says recognizing local talent is extremely important.
The entertainment lineup includes Brothers Wild, who will headline the main stage from 8:30 to 10 p.m. A mariachi band will also perform from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m., while the Portuguese Canadian Club will take part in a march through the market around 6 to 6:30 p.m.
Topham says this event has been in the works for quite some time.
She says the community will have the chance to get involved during the event.
Several road closures will be in place during the event. Roads will close at noon on Saturday and are expected to reopen around 11 p.m.
The closed areas will include Front Street from Thomas Street to Caradoc Street and Frank Street from James Street to Front Street.
Visitors are reminded that outside alcohol is not allowed at the event.
Topham says the event would not be possible without the support of the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc, The Right Place, the Downtown Strathroy BIA, Hamstra Carpet One and several community sponsors.
