Middlesex County is inviting local high school students to apply for the opportunity to experience municipal government firsthand by becoming Warden for a Day on October 13th.
Students selected for the program will spend the day with Warden Sue Clarke at the County Administration Building, taking part in a mock swearing-in ceremony, meeting with County staff and touring the facility, including the historic Middlesex County Gaol.
The experience will also introduce students to several County departments, including Forestry and Natural Heritage, Library Services, Middlesex-London Paramedic Service, and Economic Development and Tourism.
Students will have the opportunity to discuss the challenges and rewards of municipal leadership and observe an official Middlesex County Council meeting. The program will provide a behind-the-scenes look at how decisions are made and how those decisions help shape services for residents across the County.
Students interested in applying must submit either a 60-second video or a short essay answering two questions: What makes Middlesex County special to you, and if you were Warden for a day, what is one thing you would do to make a difference?
Applications must be completed by September 25.
