As Small Business Week approaches, Strathroy-Caradoc is reminding residents of the important role local businesses play in the community.
Heather Lalonde, the municipality’s Director of Economic Development and Community Engagement, says small businesses are vitaly impotant.
She tells myFM why these small businesses are so important.
With changes in the global economy, Lalonde says it is more important than ever to think local.
The Local First group was established in the Strathroy-Caradoc area in response to tariff concerns. The group encourages residents to consider local businesses and the role they play in supporting the local economy.
She says supporting local businesses goes beyond shopping. Residents and larger companies can also hire local service providers, use local workers and refer others to businesses in the area.
The municipality also works throughout the year to help small businesses connect with funding opportunities, financing resources and other local organizations. That includes working with the local Chamber of Commerce and Business Improvement Areas.
As Small Business Week approaches, her message to residents is simple.
She says small businesses are a vital part of what makes Strathroy-Caradoc’s economy and community strong.
