Strathroy is currently boasting the lowest price for gas in Ontario. As of Sunday, prices got as low as $0.99 per litre in town, much lower than towns and cities just a short drive away. myFM spoke to Patrick DeHaan, Head of Petroleum Analysis at GasBuddy.com who says there’s a variety of reasons as to why gas prices are down.
He says competitions lead the gas price differential from towns to cities. The more places to get gas, the cheaper the price. But lately DeHaan says this for whatever reason has flipped, and at least in this area it’s cheaper to get out places like London to fill up. DeHaan says despite these lows, you’re still paying for the carbon tax implementation, now five months in, whether you realize it or not.
