41 people have died this year on OPP patrolled roads as a result of distracted driving, and crashes as a result of distracted driving are up by 20%. That's why officers with the provincial police force will be out this long weekend targeting inattentive motorists.

OPP INCREASED FINES

Drivers need to be aware of the rules of the road, otherwise it's going to cost you even more than it did before. Increased fines are now in place and not only for distracted driving which is up to $490 and 3 demerit points.

BOMB THREAT YIELDS NOTHING

Earlier today around 6am Middlesex OPP responded to a bomb threat at a youth facility on New Ontario Road in Ailsa Craig. While police investigated the incident using search apparatus, the facility was locked down. No suspicious package was located, and the facility resumed normal operations.

Strathroy-Caradoc council addressed a written complaint from a resident during Monday's meeting. The complaint is from John Bakker and it's about the Amber Meadows subdivision in Strathroy and the lack of care and maintenance of the land.
