WEATHER AND TORNADO WARNINGS TONE ON RADIO EXPLAINED

More than a few Strathroy-Caradoc residents were caught off guard on Saturday afternoon around 6pm as myFM broadcasted the emergency tones warning everyone to take cover. The warning was issued as turning clouds passed over the Mount Brydges area and there was a possibility for a tornado.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday after Strathroy-Caradoc Police and the fire department were called to Adelaide Road near Scotchmere Drive around 6am Sunday morning for a collision that killed a local teen.

Adelaide-Metcalfe Mayor, Kurtis Smith is looking to help out a lucky student with the new Kurtis Smith Opportunity Program. Smith says he's looking for applicants for a $1,000 scholarship to go towards tuition. He says there will likely be several applications.

Opposition party leaders are going to bat for Canada Post, and they're asking the federal government to stop any cuts to the mail delivery service as the election quickly approaches. The opposition are saying the cuts will hurt seniors and those with disabilities.

IMPORTANCE OF IMMUNIZATION

The importance of immunization has again hit home, with the detection of whooping cough or pertusis in the region. Medical Officer of Health, Doctor Janice Owen says the virus is spread easily in under-immunized populations. She says infants and the elderly are the most vulnerable.
